GNU Presents 6th Annual Collegiate Chorus Festival! |

Minneapolis, MN - The Great Northern Union Chorus (GNU) will present a collaboration concert featuring the famed Singing Statesmen from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and the 2009 Barbershop Harmony Society International Collegiate Champions, The Vagrants.
The concert is set for March 13, 2010, at 7:30pm at the beautiful sanctuary of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN (1900 Stanford Ave, St Paul MN). The Singing Statesmen number 80 strong and are directed by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff. Special musical guests include the 2009 Barbershop Harmony Society Collegiate Quartet Champions, The Vagrants. Additionally, the quartet will hold a residency in the Twin Cities prior to the concert visiting high schools’ choral programs (Lakeville, Eden Prairie, Hopkins and White Bear Lake) promoting a cappella and barbershop singing.
The 85 member Great Northern Union Chorus has earned the right to be considered one of North America’s elite men’s a cappella choruses. Since their inception in the mid-1980’s, the Great Northern Union’s emphasis on excellence in performance has resulted in numerous medalist performances while competing against the “Best of the Best” that the Barbershop Harmony Society has to offer, while consistently earning Top Ten in the World placements over the years. In July 2009, the GNU competed in the International Barbershop Harmony Chorus Competition in Anaheim, CA and earned a 3rd place bronze medal. The GNU is directed by Peter Benson.
